Vascular surgeons are on hand to provide prompt evaluation reports, including recommendations for intervention when clinical data is provided.
The diagnostic tests include peripheral arterial evaluation (lower limb, upper limb and carotid artery), aortic evaluation and peripheral venous evaluations.

Adelaide Vascular was first established at William Harvey Vascular Laboratories in 1989 and has been operating in metropolitan and regional South Australia for over 30 years. Our team remains committed to providing expert care for our patients.
Evaluations are performed with Phillips EpiQ 5 and Philips CX50 ultrasound machines by a team of experienced vascular sonographers that have a minimum of five years experience in vascular sonography.
Vascular surgeons are on hand to report on all ultrasounds.
The Adelaide Vascular Centre is based in North Adelaide with service provided from additional clinics across Adelaide and South Australia.

Peter is a vascular surgeon and is the Practice Principal and Managing Director of Adelaide Vascular. Peter has 22 years of experience as a consultant in Adelaide’s private and public health systems - Peter is a Senior Vascular Consultant at the Royal Adelaide Hospital with appointments to regional SA – he is visiting specialist at Mt Barker DSM, Stirling Hospital and the Riverland Regional Hospital. Peter’s areas of experience include open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, distal bypass grafting for limb salvage, carotid disease management including surgery (endarterectomy) and endovenous laser treatment of varicose veins. Like all contemporary vascular surgeons, he also performs endovascular interventions for peripheral arterial disease.
Professional interests and experiences.
Peter has been part of the development of the Adelaide Vascular Trials—a national pre-fellowship examination course for vascular surgical trainees and candidates sitting the FRACS Vascular exit examination. which has run annually since 2001 – Peter is currently the Chairman of the Board of AVT (AUS) Pty Ltd. This is on of Peter’s interests - trainee education, training and preparation for Fellowship assessment. He was elected to the Board of Vascular Surgery (2009 to 2018) which is the body overseeing training of vascular surgeons in Australia and New Zealand.
Peter has served in the Convenor role of Vascular 2008—the Annual Spring Scientific Meeting of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Vascular Surgery. In role as Secretary of the state committee of the RACS, Peter also convened the 2011 Tripartite Annual Scientific Meeting of the RACS State Committees representing surgeons in SA, NT and WA. In 2017. Peter was Convener of the Annual Scientific Congress of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons – on the theme of “Safety and Sustainability – the Future of Surgery”
Peter has served on the South Australian Committee of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) – as Secretary in 2010-2012, then as Chair of the State Committee between the years of 2012-2014.
Co-chair of the Vascular Clinical Committee (VCC) of the Commonwealth Taskforce of the Medicare Benefits Schedule, - the Taskforce delivered its recommendations the Commonwealth Minister of Health in May of 2020.
As a member of the Australian Delegation to APEC Business Ethics Forum (Tokyo 2018) which delivered the Australian Consensus Framework on Ethical Relationships between Health Care Workers and Industry, Peter serves as one of the founding members of the Steering Committee of the Australian Ethical Healthcare Alliance
His involvement and interest in safety and quality sees him serve on the Medical Advisory Committee of Adelaide Community Health Alliance and is the Clinical Advisor in Vascular Surgery.
Since 2019, Peter has been a Medical Lead in the Surgery Program of the Central Adelaide Local Healthcare Network – the Royal Adelaide and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals.
After serving on the executive of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Vascular Surgery (ANZSVS) including as Chairman of the Relationships and Advocacy Portfolio (2011-2018), Peter was elected President of the Society in 2020.
In December of 2020, Peter was elected President of the World Federation of Vascular Societies – completing his term of office in 2022. He now sits on World Federation Council as representative for Australia and New Zealand.
In 2021, Peter was elected as Chair of Council of the South Australian branch of the Australian Medical Association.

Michael is an accredited vascular and endovascular surgeon and has been a consultant surgeon for 8 years.
Michael’s areas of interest are the endovascular repair of complex abdominal and thoracic aneurysmal disease, as well as management of lower-limb peripheral vascular disease and associated diabetic pathology. He holds accreditation for the management of the full range of vascular pathology, including carotid disease and minimally-invasive treatment of varicose veins.
Michael supervises the vascular assessment of interns and registered medical practitioners (RMOs) at The Royal Adelaide and The Queen Elizabeth Hospitals. He is a regular participant in the Multi-Disciplinary High-Risk Diabetic Foot Clinic (HRC) at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He has also been an examiner at the Adelaide Vascular Trials (AVT) since 2014.

Edward is an accredited vascular and endovascular surgeon and has been a consultant surgeon since 2019.
Adelaide born and raised, Edward studied medicine at Adelaide University and trained locally and in Brisbane. He supervises vascular surgery training at Flinders Medical Centre and medical students from Flinders University where he is also a clinical lecturer. He has also been involved in the bi-national trainee week for vascular surgery trainees with the Australia and New Zealand Society of Vascular Surgery.

Dr Simon Vun is an Australian-trained and AHPRA board-certified Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with over 11 years of practice experience.
Dr Vun’s formal training includes a Bachelor of Medical Science, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with First Class Honours, and a Master of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery (ANZSVS) and Australasian Vascular Audit (AVA).
Dr Vun is an instructor in the Australia and NZ Surgical Skills Education and Training (ASSET) program for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is also a faculty member of the Western Australia Vascular Education (WAVE) program and the Adelaide Vascular Trial (AVT) program for Australian and international vascular surgeons-in-training. He is also a clinical senior lecturer at Flinders University.
Dr Vun has a special interest in arterial reconstruction, renal access, spine access and venous intervention and supports SA’s busiest TAVI aortic valve program at Flinders and Ashford Hospitals.

Using knowledge and skills acquired in the medical sector with over 30 years’ experience as a general practitioner, combined with her military training and leadership experience in the Royal Australian Air Force, Catherine manages the business operations of Adelaide Vascular. She connects with the directors, vascular surgeons, staff and contractors to ensure Adelaide Vascular is focussed on providing high quality care.
